For the Love of Music

Come and listen to some wonderful music. Workshops are scheduled on the following Fridays over the next five months between 1pm and 3pm. Transport is available, but please book this in advance. These workshops are free to members. Fee for non-members. Led by Joan Douglas.

Tickling the Ivories - 24 February 2012

Featuring music written for piano by Chopin, Beethoven and many others.

Concerning Concertos - 23 March 2012

The modern use of the term concerto means a composition for one or more solo players. We will listen to the music of Mozart, Rodrigo and others.

Tragic Lives - 27 April 2012

Some composers suffered hardship and despair yet still managed to create memorable music. Enjoy the music of Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann and others.

A Trip Down Memory Lane - 25 May 2012

Listen to singers of renown from days gone by as well as music that will evoke memories from the past.

Fantastical Classical - 22 June 2012

Enjoy a programme made up of 'crowd pleasers' including Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, Bruch's Violin Concerto and many others.
