Groovy Grandparents Playgroup

Wednesday, 21 July, 10:30am-12:30pm

This playgroup is for grandparents and grandchildren from 0 to 6 years. This term the playgroup will run for 10 weeks.

 

Caring for Kids First Aid

Sunday, date TBA (during Term 4), 9am-5pm

This St John Ambulance accredited first aid course is designed to meet the needs of parents, grandparents, carer's in the child care industry and members of the public who may be entrusted with the care of babies and children.

Art Classes

Below is the program for Term 3, 2010. 

  • Drawing: Horses in Myths - the Unicorn, Pegasus and others. Practice sketching and shading the shapes found in regular horses. Draw own 'mythic horse' to collage onto background.
  • Drawing: The Myth of Flying - Icarus, Fairies, Superheroes. Drawing and rendering wings, Produce own 'flying character'.
  • Drawing: Myths from around the World 1: Protectors. St George, Artemis, Cerberus, Green Man of the Forest. Imagination and grid drawing exercises.
  • Drawing: Myths from around the Word 2: Creators. Aboriginal, Indian and Egyptian creation myths. Produce an artwork based on a creation myth.
  • Clay: Mythical Creatures. Create own mythic creature from clay. Paint clay.
  • Papier Mache: Construct and papier mache own 'protector doll' based on 'protector dolls/figurines' from different tribal cultures. Paint and decorate.
  • Papier Mache Group Project: Modern myth. Establish storyline and characters, set the scene for portrayal, create background scene.
 
 

Fabric Fun for High School Students

Tuesday, 27 July, 4pm-6pm for 7 weeks

The fee is $140, plus $20 for materials to be paid to the tutor. The tutor is Wendy Williams.

 

Children's Art Exhibition

Thursday, 23 September, 7pm-8pm

The Wednesday and Thursday children's art classes will be having their annual art exhibition in September. All are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.

The annual Art Exhibition of children's work from our children's art classes will be on Thursday, 23 September from 7pm till 8pm. All are welcome.

 

Peace Meditations

The next Peace Meditation will be held on Saturday, 31 July 2010, from 11.30am until 1pm. It will be followed by a community lunch. This is a guided meditation and newcomers are welcome. The half hour meditation starts promptly at 11.30am and afterwards we will share the food that people have brought in a group meal. Please contact us if you are interested in attending.

The International Day of Peace Meditation will be held on Tuesday, 21 September, from 7pm till 9pm.
