DCC Inc
Drummoyne Community Centre serves the communities of Drummoyne, Five Dock, Concord and surrounding areas. Many programs are conducted at the Drummoyne facility in Cometrowe Street. However, an increasing number are now conducted at other sites within the City of Canada Bay Local Government Area and beyond.

Vision
DCC acts as a focal point for the whole community to enhance the quality of life. It is an evolving, dynamic organization, whose purpose is to nurture, develop, extend and respond to local needs and issues in a beneficial and enabling way.

Strategies
DCC responds flexibly to changing community needs through a range of strategies including:

  • community information and referral to local services
  • community education programs
  • self-help support groups
  • volunteer programs
  • social and welfare support programs
  • a place where residents can meet either formally or informally to participate in community activity.

Many DCC programs are open to all members of the community. However, some focus on people with particular needs including children, families, people with disabilities, older people, people from culturally diverse backgrounds, new residents and those who are socially isolated.

DCC is a nonprofit, non-government organization that relies on membership, donations and funding to continue operating activities and services. In 2008 DCC is supported with funding from:

  • The NSW Department of Community Services
  • City of Canada Bay Council
  • Club Five Dock
  • Sydney Rowing Club
  • Canada Bay Club
  • Strengthening Families Resourcing Parents: Inner West Small Grants (SFRP)

DCC has a Community Management Committee consisting of 8 to 14 members who are elected each year from the Centre membership. The committee consists of local people interested in providing their skills and time to oversee the management of services, classes, groups and projects of the organization. In addition there are two representatives from the City of Canada Bay Council on the Management Committee.

There are also four subcommittees of the Management Committee. They are:

  • Finance
  • Policy
  • Transport
  • Events

A small team of part-time paid staff works alongside around 70 volunteer workers to ensure the effectiveness of DCC programs.
