Internet Tutors Wanted

An information session for new volunteer internet tutors will be held on Wednesday 24 February 2010 from 2.30-3.30pm at DCC. Anyone interested in becoming part of this program will need to have at least:

  • Basic internet/email skills
  • Be available to undertake one on one tutoring at Five Dock and/or Concord Libraries at least one morning a week for at least a 3 month period
  • Be available and willing to complete an introductory training program.

If this is you, please contact Ros or Liz at the office for more details.

Volunteer Drivers Needed

The Ring & Ride transport service requires drivers. Do you live in or around Concord, Five Dock or Drummoyne? Do you have your own car and a little spare time? Whether you have one spare morning each month, or a spare day a week, every trip makes a difference to somebody's life.

Ring & Ride is an initiative between Drummoyne Community Centre and Inner West Community Transport to provide door to door transport assistance for local residents experiencing difficulty accessing appointments and activities. This initiative is supported by funding from Club Five Dock and The Canada Bay Club.

If you would like more information, please contact Amanda on 9719-8102 on Wednesdays to Fridays, or email her at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Other Volunteering Options

Volunteers are an integral part of our community. DCC could not exist without them. If you have a spare morning or afternoon maybe you would like to assist. As little as a couple of hours a month can be helpful. The work is varied and rewarding and many programs rely on volunteers to exist. Our volunteers help with:

  • Clerical work in the office
  • Internet tutoring
  • Tax help for low income earners
  • Fund raising events
  • Management Committee
  • Running or assisting groups
  • Legal advice
  • Minibus driving

Currently we have some vacancies in our office if you could spare us half a day a week. If you have reception experience and would like to assist with answering the phone and general office duties we would like to hear from you.

Contact us if you would like to contribute to your community. Information is available about volunteer opportunities with DCC, as well as how to apply and what you will be asked to do (job description). Volunteers receive training and ongoing support.
